most of my fairings need a respray after a couple of drops and me generally being a bit dozy so I thought it take the opportunity to change the colour of my bike and maybe do some kind of race-rep. It would be a lot easier to just keep the standard colours as things like the tank and seat fairings wouldn't need spraying, but where's the fun in that eh?

My question is what do insurance companies or the dvla think of paint scheme changes? Should i just keep my mouth shut if i do go for something different or do i need to let them know? Also a bit concerned about resale value and if that will be affected?

Any help appreciated,

ta

Your insurance company will want to know as it is technically a modification. Whether it will affect your premium will depend on your insurer.

DVLA will also need informed to keep everything legal and update your V5. Unless you find a black race rep. Rossi test bike rep? or old school West job maybe? Can't think of any others.

cheers for the info, i think to save hassle i'l just keep it mainly black. Not a bad shout with the black race rep though mate. I've found one pic of this which i think is rossi winning at czech but can't find any more pics...you got any idea what this paint scheme was called?

might go down that route bram, like the tech 3 yamaha in gp? Hmmmm, it may have to be a spies rep Twisted Evil saying that, not if he's off for a factory ride next year!

Just phoned my insurance and it wont affect my policy atall - bonus. And it seems like a colour change is pretty easy with the dvla Very Happy

Happy fookin days

That is the test bike. Unpainted carbon. That would look genius. Even better if you could find (and afford Very Happy ) full carbon fairings!!

Yes though, that would make life a whole lot easier. Get the black sprayed on then get the decals made and applied before clear laquer top coat to stop them peeling. Cheaper than getting the graphics painted. Go for a pearl laquer for a nice sparkly finish.

What about a Rossi Laguna Seca type set up. That was black n white. Get loads of pics of family, friends and favourite heros made up and go stickertastic. Would be a complete one off.

i'm liking your style tifo! although i love the idea of all the photo's, i think it would be pretty damn personal so would struggle selling it on.

Full carbon is my dream - but initial costs look to be in the region of £1500 :O
Plus imagine sending that down the feckin road on it's side, you'd need it fully wrapped in a bike-basque for protection Laughing

Although the race reps look awesome, i can't help but think a performance bike with FIAT written all over it just looks a bit...well...daft. Think im gonna jump on photoshop 2nite and have a play with some designs - maybe an r6ers.co.uk race rep could be hitting the streets! Twisted Evil

Maybe you could get hold of a cheap second hand set to respray and keep the standard for resale. Dunno. Your fancy fairing might make a nice souvenir. Its all money mind. Sad

The Fiat logo gets the nod from those in the know and those who don't already know don't deserve to!!! Ha ha.

You might have a business there, in motorbike basques. Bit like those daft leather bra things that the yanks like to put on there cars to prevent stone chips.
