Ok, so I've been passed by test only 3 months and covered 1500 miles so far on my R6.

I've come on no end.....

Should I opt for the beginner group or the intermediate group?

Your thoughts please.

Lol. "passed ya test 3 months ago" "rode 1500" and you've "come on no end" and you were thinking of going in the inters???

Hhhhmmmm I can see someone coming unstuck.
Your going to have the time of your life but I also think your going to get ya eyes open, bud.
Take it easy of your bike will be in one of the nice blue dumpsters.....
Cadwell is very technical have you thought about Mallory park instead?

That's right fastfox bud. When I first passed my test and took my bike out I was hopless, so like I've said, I've come on no end. I learn everytime I take the bike out. I can take corners I ride frequently much faster and smoother than I could a few months ago, that's progress bud.

I was being perfectly sensible in my approach to the question I asked and was in no doubt abuot how fast some folks can go, so don't make a mountain out of a mole hill, bud!

Yes I had thought about others as I read this is one of the trickier tracks, but it's also the closest by some way.

Just read a recent artile on Cadwell track days.

http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/RidingEvents/ridingeventsresults/Riding-skills/2010/July/jul0110-novice-day-at-cadwell-park/_/R-EPI-125130

I think I'll book the novice class. It's the obvious place to start.

All i`m saying is, that over a lifetime of riding, 3 months is nothing and i`m sorry fella, you havn`t learnt nothing compared to what you will learn on trackdays.
Ive been riding bikes for the last 17 years and ive done hundreds of trackdays. My post might of been blunt. Hell yes, i`l come clean, it WAS blunt but ive seen it all before. Newbe rider first time on track two laps latter out comes the red flag.
Like you, less than a year after passing my test, i booked myself onto a trackday.....Cadwell.....my mate was "ahhhh your a quick rider you`l be fine in the FAST group". Was i f***! I was scared shitless (yes i admit it) and got black flagged and busted down to the inters, where i was still hopelessly out of my depth. It put me off trackdays for a few years before i had the nads to try again.
I even got a gob full off some t*** for out braking myself and pushing him out onto the grass!
With hind site, if i was booking my first trackday, i`d got into the novice at a easy to learn circuit like MALLORY. I know i would of enjoyed it sooo much more!
When were you thinking of booking? I`m at mallory in september. Me and my other blunt mates can make some room for you and give you some good steers Wink Mallory is the same price as Cadwell too

In the mean time, im sorry that i came accross blunt, but its born out of being exsperienced and long in the tooth.

Oh and wanting YOU to enjoy yourself

It’s cool.

What you say is completely right.

I will definitely be starting in the novice group.

Riding on motocross tracks albeit it a completely different environment, it does make you aware of how ferocious and competitive track riding is and how easy it is to get carried away and end up out of control crashing.

I’ve seen a few vids that have been posted on YouTube of folks highsiding, and it looks rather nasty.

Thanks for the advice.

Well I am also a novice rider like yourself, with 3 months experience and about 2500miles under my belt. I booked Cadwell with a couple of my neighbours last month and really enjoyed it, learnt loads about how I should be riding and came away pretty chuffed with myself!

We've booked the next evening session on Wednesday 4th August, is that when you're thinking of going?

Last time we went there were only 33 people so they used the track as 'open pitlane' sort of thing which I felt was loads better than just 3 x 20minute sessions.

I folded my wing mirrors in, you don't need to see whats happening behind you, just concentrate on the corner coming up! Its the responsibility of the rider making the overtaking manouvre to ensure he does so in a safe place (they emphasise this in the briefing!)

We had 3 warm up laps following a safety bike then another, shorter briefing (just for the novices of the group) and then off we went! Great fun and for only £50!

Let me know if you're going on Wednesday (4th) and I'll see you down there Very Happy

Hi Fluke.

I've just booked Thursday 12th August through Focused Events. I have not received my confirmation yet, but I don't forsee a problem.

I'm really looking forward to the day. I booked the novice group.

It will be interesting to see if I can get my body position to get my knee down. I know I'm getting low enough to do it, as when I was putting my boots away a few days ago I noticed I'd got my toe down, there was a small mark on the toe slider consistent of being scrubbed on the floor, lol. I know where I did it too, as I remember getting lower than I ever had in the past.

I've got Pures on and they feel amazing, so if I can get my body right, I think I might have a chance.

It does feel odd when I try and swing my leg out on the road, but I have also noticed that it helps throw the bike over quickly, moving the weight around really seems to help get the bike in the right position much quicker which is obvioulsy going to be essential on the track.

On the track, like folks say, you can keep chipping away at corners, building confidence.

How did you find your riding skills came on for the experience?

Ooh...Never trust other people!!! They may think they have it all under control. Doesn't mean they do. Have seen a few people get taken out by others braking too deep.

Yeah, I will not be trusting any rider.

If I take a non riding friend, can they hang out with me the whole day where I am and if so do they need to pay?
